CONSULTATIVE WORKSHOP ON CLIMATE FINANCE AND GOVERNANCE IN TAITA TAVETA COUNTY

The Climate Finance Thematic Working Group (CFTWG), a brainchild of PACJA Angaza project and CARE Kenya’s CSO readiness for the Green Climate Fund intends to support training of TaitaTaveta County officials engaged in Climate Governance initiatives in Climate finance and Governance and thereafter identify suitable Trainers of Trainees (TOTs) to support dissemination of information on Climate Finance trickling down to the sub-counties and community level.
The CFTWG will support 20 participants from Taita Taveta County, members of CFTWG and Angaza Project staff to look at the climate finance issues in the County. The training aims at capacity building county officials and informs them of what’s going on at the national level, regional level and international levels on Climate Finance and how the county can raise its own funds to address the issues of climate change.

The main objective of the forum is to train actors involved in climate change within TaitaTaveta County (Farmers, county officials, CSO, NGO’s and private sector representatives) on Climate Finance while exchanging knowledge and sharing lessons on climate change related issues. The capacity building initiatives aims to;
Train the TOTs in TaitaTaveta on Climate finance Governance
Create awareness on National Climate Finance policies and international finance mechanisms
Ignite knowledge and information exchange dialogue on climate issues in the county
Explore opportunities, strategies and current initiatives on climate change within the county.
Enhanced accountability of climate finances
Improved understanding of the County Climate Finance Mechanism at the County and community levels
Strengthen linkage between CSOs and county on climate
