December 11, 2023On December 09, thousands of Climate activists held a global march calling for the global north to cut emissions and address climate justice, among of them thousands were part of African CSOs under the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA Youth, Women, Persons with Disabilities, and indigenous communities that echoed strong voices calling the global north to cut emissions, stopping promoting the Carbon Market as a solution for Climate Change, paying debts and other captivating messages.
Addressing marchers, Dr Augustine Njamnshi, Chair of Technical and Political Affairs, PACJA stressed that they stand in solidarity with other CSOs and tell the global north that enough is enough don’t get us wrong.
“We will be always there to make sure we put our voice and be satisfied that we have done our work. We stand in solidarity with others in what is happening all over the world. around the world. But just know that whenever there is an issue that is burning around the world, in Africa is Double we face that challenge and we face the challenge of injustice”, said Augustine.
Dr. Mithika Mwenda, the Executive Director of PACJA REAFFIRMED that COPs and global march days are the spaces where Africa articulates its voice.
“Our agenda in Africa cannot be diluted. We came here to drive the climate Justice Agenda. We know that other pertinent issues need attention but we can not forget that this is a space where we discuss climate change and Climate justice in that matter” Dr. Mithika Affirmed.
