In a fast-paced year for climate diplomacy, the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) has actively engaged in various initiatives. Notably, they hosted the Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice, with over 1000 participants globally. PACJA played a crucial role in organizing the Africa Climate Summit, coordinating efforts for the Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa (CCDA XI), Africa Climate Week (ACW), and the inaugural Africa Climate Summit. They facilitated non-state actors’ involvement, presenting demands to African and global leaders for a people-centered and human rights-focused summit. Facing foreign interests, PACJA mobilized for COP28 through the “Keep Your Promise” campaign, emphasizing Africa’s priorities like adaptation, climate finance, and the functionality of the Loss and Damage Fund. As they enter the fourth quarter, PACJA remains dedicated to influencing COP28 in favor of Africa’s pressing climate concerns. Read/Download: PACJA Newsletter Q3
