September 20, 2021Professor Tahseen Jafry, Director of The Centre for Climate Justice Glasgow Caledonian University, the co-organiser of the event together with the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) noted that this year’s Forum brings together deep, rich and challenging conversations on two of the most pressing issues of our time; climate change and Covid 19.
Coming ahead of the COP 26 Summit being held in Glasgow in November, this Forum will provide an opportunity to examine, discuss and debate how to ensure equity and justice as core values on the road to developing climate just and sustainable solutions for the benefit of all of humanity and not just the privileged few.
Mithika Mwenda, Executive Director, PACJA and Key Note speaker during the Forum said the Forum will inspire and motivate people to help shape the road map to recovery, building resilience and preventing catastrophic devastation to the lives and livelihoods of many thousands of people.
Among other key note speakers include; Mary Robinson, Adjunct Professor for Climate Justice in Trinity College Dublin and Chair of The Eldersa and former President of Ireland from 1990-1997 and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights from 1997-2002.
Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO Director-General for a five-year term by WHO Member States at the Seventieth World Health Assembly in May 2017 and Nigel Topping, the UK’s High-Level Climate Action Champion, appointed by the UK Prime Minister in January 2020 will also be speaking.
Princess Esméralda, a member of the Belgian Royal family and a journalist, author and David Moulsdale, an entrepreneur, businessman, philanthropist and passionate advocate for environmental action across the business world will grace the Forum and so is the Kumi Naidoo, former International Executive Director of Greenpeace International, from 2009-2015, and Secretary General of Amnesty International, from 2018-2020 among others.
