PACJA to co-host 14th to chart the Road to COP31 and COP32 at CCDA-XIV

From September 7 to 9, 2026, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will become the epicentre of Africa’s diplomacy as governments, financial institutions, civil society, researchers, youth, women, indigenous peoples and the private sector gather for the 14^th Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa (CCDA-XIV). Co-hosted by the Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA), alongside the African Union Commission (AUC) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Afreximbank, and the African Development Bank (AfDB) under the ClimDev Africa Programme, the conference will be convened under the theme “From Pledges to Implementation: The Belem–Antalya–Addis Roadmap.”

CCDA-XIV comes at a defining moment for Africa’s climate agenda. With COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye, approaching later this year and Ethiopia preparing to host COP32 in 2027, the conference is designed to move beyond negotiations and declarations towards delivering tangible climate action across Africa.

CCDA XIV seeks to transform commitments made under the Paris Agreement and the third generation of NDCs. (NDC 3.0), National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and the outcomes of the 1^st Global Stocktake into real investments, policies and implementation pathways that improve lives across Africa.

Being Africa’s largest network of climate civil society organisations spanning more than 54 countries, CCDA-XIV represents more than an annual conference   – it is a continental platform for strengthening Africa’s voice, agency and leadership in global climate governance. The alliance will mobilise non-state actors to contribute evidence, community experiences and policy recommendations that ensure climate action is people-centred, equitable and development-driven.

PACJA, co-hosting this conference, will use the opportunity to spotlight critical issues that matter most to African communities, including climate justice, debt and climate finance reform, locally led adaptation, renewable energy access, food systems transformation, youth leadership, and gender-responsive climate action.  Through strategic engagement dialogues and policy forums, PACJA will amplify the voices of communities already experiencing the impact of climate change.

This 2-year CCDA XIV aims to strengthen Africa’s climate leadership by advancing coordinated policy, partnerships, investments, and implementation that accelerate climate-resilient and low-emission development, shape Africa’s strategic engagement at COP31, and lay the foundation for an ambitious and African-led COP32. In doing so, CCDA-XIV anchors the Conference’s central theme of moving from commitments to delivery, ensuring Africa’s climate and development agenda translates into politically resilient, implementable outcomes for the AGN and the continent’s broader climate and development partners.
