Welcome to the June 2026 edition of the Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance’s Monthly Digest.
Throughout the month, our collective efforts continued to advance climate justice, amplify African voices, and strengthen the implementation of transformative initiatives across the continent.
A major milestone this month was PACJA’s active participation in the 64th Session of the UNFCCC Subsidiary Bodies (SB64) held in Bonn, Germany. Our delegation played a critical role in advocating for African priorities in the global climate negotiations, particularly on issues relating to climate finance, adaptation, loss and damage, and a just transition.
Through strategic engagements, side events, media outreach, and coalition-building, PACJA reaffirmed its position as a leading voice championing equitable climate action and ensuring that Africa’s interests remain central in international climate processes.
June also saw significant progress in the activities of our Designated National Platforms (DNPs). Across several countries, the programme continued to foster inclusive governance, strengthen civic participation, and support communities in advocating for transparent and accountable management of natural resources. These efforts are contributing to stronger citizen engagement and reinforcing the link between democratic governance and sustainable development.
In addition, implementation of various projects across our thematic and regional portfolios continued to gain momentum. Our teams and partners advanced activities focused on climate adaptation, resilience building, policy advocacy, capacity strengthening, and community empowerment. The dedication demonstrated by staff, members, and partners across Africa continues to translate our collective vision into tangible impact for vulnerable communities.
As we move into the second half of the year, I encourage all leaders to sustain this momentum, deepen collaboration, and continue driving innovative solutions that place people and justice at the heart of climate action. Click here to read more
