October 25, 2021#COP26 Podcast on the Pre-2020 Commitments
October 30, 2021The strong show of the African climate activists at the Glasgow meeting comes in the midst of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which has slowed down physical activities around the world since it started in early 2020.
“We recognize the world must urgently come together – in person and inclusively – to agree on action to tackle climate change,” said Mithika Mwenda, the Executive Director of the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance.
In addition, Mithika says host countries are working tirelessly to deliver a safe, successful COP26 and are anticipating success during engagement with State Parties.
During this monumental conference, African Climate Activists Africa will collaborate with their counterparts from the Global South and North to hold governments accountable to secure global net zero by mid-century and keep 1.5 degrees within reach. In addition, civil society groups attending the event intend to ensure that governments commit to protect communities and natural habitats and mobilize funds for the green climate initiatives.
