As we enter a defining moment for our planet and people, the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance calls on civil society, grassroots movements, youth, faith actors, and justice-minded communities across Africa and the Global South to unite in a year-long wave of action in 2025 — a pivotal opportunity to reshape global economic and climate systems.
We face compounding crises: deepening inequality, mounting debt, ecological collapse, and persistent global injustice. Climate finance remains unfulfilled. Debt traps rooted in colonial legacies endure. And those least responsible for the climate crisis suffer its worst impacts.
2025 must be a turning point.
Grounded in African realities and a legacy of resistance, we envision a continent where dignity is not undermined by poverty, and progress does not come at the cost of justice. Africa is rising — calling for reparations, debt cancellation, and urgent climate action. This is a collective moment to mobilize, organized, courageous, and determined.
What We Demand:
Join the Movement:
PACJA invites allies across movements — trade unions, women’s rights groups, youth coalitions, environmental defenders, faith communities, and social justice networks — to join a coordinated campaign culminating in key moments such as COP30, the 2025 UN Financing for Development Conference, and the Jubilee Debt Campaign.
Guided by grassroots voices and collective wisdom, we have co-created a bold political statement rooted in 21 transformative demands. These include the cancellation of illegitimate debt, dismantling exploitative financial systems, and delivering financing for climate action, social protection, and justice.
This is not just a declaration. It is a rallying point. The Political Document
2025 offers a rare opportunity to challenge a global financial order that continues to fail the Global South. As a Jubilee Year, it calls us to push for systemic change. With the 4th UN Conference on Financing for Development in Spain, COP30 in Brazil, and the G20 Summit in Johannesburg on the horizon, we are at a crossroads.
The clock is ticking on the SDGs. Aid is shrinking, austerity is spreading, and inequality is growing. But change is possible — if we act together.
Movements worldwide are building a united front for economic justice: cancelling illegitimate debt, ending austerity, financing public services, and advancing feminist, rights-based economies that serve both people and planet.Your solidarity is critical. Let’s make 2025 a landmark of justice for Africa, the Global South, and future generations. Join us in signing the Public Statement for Economic Justice
