On September 6, 2024, the Civil Society Network on Climate Change (CISONECC), with support from the Government of Germany through CARE Malawi, organized an orientation meeting on Gender-Responsive Climate and Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance (CDRFI) for civil society organizations.
Chikondi Chabvuta, Southern Regional Policy Advisor for CARE International in Malawi, emphasized the critical importance of integrating gender considerations into climate and disaster risk financing programs. The session aimed to raise awareness and equip participants with tools to effectively incorporate gender into these initiatives, ensuring equitable outcomes.
Julius Ng’oma, CISONECC National Coordinator, commended the progress made in addressing gender within CDRFI programming, particularly through the design and operationalization of the Malawi Multi-Actor Partnership fora. He also underscored the need for greater effort in designing and implementing gender-responsive CDRFI initiatives across the country.
