June 26, 2023Egypt: YLE Foundation Strengthens Capacity of CSOs in policy paper writing
In an innovative move towards sustainability, the Youth Love Egypt Foundation (YLE Foundation) recently organized a comprehensive workshop aimed at strengthening the capacity of civil society institutions in Egypt.
The capacity building focused on policy paper writing in the climate change sector. This workshop marked a significant milestone in fostering knowledge sharing and empowering NGOs to take their advocacy efforts to new heights.
Collaborating with CRIS, PACJA, and funded by IKI, the YLE Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development of an enabling environment for sustainable change.
The workshop provided participants with a solid foundation in understanding the intricate dynamics of public policy. Key topics covered included the administrative, legislative, and regulatory aspects of policy-making processes.
Given the rapidly evolving landscape of environmental challenges, the workshop also emphasized the application and adoption of policies to effectively address emerging concerns.
The training sessions were graced by experts in the field of policy paper writing, Ghada Ali, a member of the parliament. She shed light on the current draft law on carbon markets, which has been presented to the parliament. She also emphasized the legislation’s significance in promoting environmental sustainability and reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions, reaffirming the Foundation’s support for this crucial initiative.
Furthermore, Member of Parliament, Mohamed Ismail, another influential figure within the CPYP and a representative of the foundation at the Climate Summit 27, shared insights on the proposed amendment to Environmental Law No. 4 of 1994. He discussed the project’s objectives and its expected impact on environmental protection and sustainability enhancement in Egypt.
The workshop fostered engaging and fruitful discussions between the participants and the speakers. They delved into the legal and social factors that shape the role of civil society in achieving environmental security. By exchanging insights and experiences, the workshop attendees gained valuable perspectives on the essential determinants of environmental advocacy.
One of the highlights of the workshop was its unique focus on youth empowerment. By equipping young participants with the necessary skills and knowledge in policy paper writing, the initiative aimed to enhance their engagement in shaping public policies.
The workshop covered various aspects, including prioritizing environmental issues, effective presentation methods, and techniques for analysis and evaluation. This investment in youth empowerment strengthens the foundation for sustainable change and paves the way for future environmental leaders.
The YLE Foundation’s commitment to knowledge sharing and capacity building has made the way for a more sustainable future in Egypt. By providing NGOs with the tools and expertise necessary to navigate policy-making processes, the foundation has empowered civil society to play a pivotal role in shaping a greener, more environmentally conscious nation.
As the ripple effects of this workshop continue to spread, the YLE Foundation’s efforts will undoubtedly contribute to a stronger, more effective civil society that champions environmental security and sustainability in Egypt and beyond.
