Ms Salina Sanou, the Head of Programmes at the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance has said that it is extremely important that the British Government did all it can to allow for maximum participation of African climate negotiators and activists to the 26th conference of parties to the UN Framework Convention on climate change which is set for the November 1-12 despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking to the Sky news of the UK earlier today, Ms Salina said Africa still lags behind innovations and connectivity is either poor or low and cannot facilitate wider participation at the COP. She highlighted the findings of a research jointly carried out between PACJA and the University of Glasgow, Caledonia whose results will be subject of discussion at a side event on the July 13 during the ongoing Multi-stakeholder meeting on COVID and climate change taking place in Abuja, Nigeria.
