July 2023: NSSCJ Cohort III Newsletter

We are thrilled to present the Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice Cohort III Newsletter (NSSCJ Cohort III ), highlighting the momentous 2-week learning affair that took place from the 3rd to the 16th of July 2023 at Kenyatta University. This transformative program, in its 3rd year running, is an initiative of the Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance, and it successfully attracted over 2,000 applicants from across the globe.

The Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice has become a beacon of hope and knowledge for young African minds as it delves deep into the critical issues of climate justice. The event hosted over 300 physical participants who joined us on the vibrant campus of Kenyatta University. Additionally, Over 100 participants took part in the enriching sessions online, bridging the geographical divide and embracing diversity in the ever-evolving digital era.

The heart of the program was our esteemed facilitators, who are experts, thought leaders, and influencers in the realm of climate justice and related fields. Their invaluable insights and experiences shaped the discussions and provided participants with new perspectives on the global climate crisis.

Throughout the two weeks, we covered eight comprehensive modules and 1 parallel session, carefully tailored to cater to the participants’ individual interests and areas of expertise. Our goal was to foster meaningful dialogue and equip young minds with the necessary tools to become advocates for climate justice in their communities and beyond.

From thought-provoking panel discussions to engaging workshops and interactive group activities, the Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice left a lasting impact on all who participated. The connections forged during this gathering will undoubtedly contribute to a stronger network of climate justice advocates worldwide.
