Ms. Akosa is an active member of the Women and Gender Constituency of the UNFCCC, a platform where she has been providing leadership for African women by bringing local women’s voices into global climate policies and also serving as the focal person for the WGC with respect to the African Renewable Energy Initiative (AREI) through which she ensures that African women have full and equal participation in the AREI.
She monitors Climate Finance on behalf of women and gender as the Gender Monitor for Anglophone Africa under the WEDO and Both ENDS project titled “Women Demand Gender Just climate finance”.
In Nigeria, she is currently working with Frederick Ebert Foundation and other stakeholders to set up a Coalition for Sociology-Ecological Transformation (CoSET) as well as leading the South West Nigeria, Women in Peacebuilding Network (WIPNET), a program of the West African Network for Peace-building (WANEP), Nigeria
Ms. Akosa is a member of the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance and currently heads its Ethics committee
