COP28: PACJA Advocates for Collective Action to Address Climate Change Impacts on Health
December 4, 2023The Yaounde African Youth Call on More than Doubling Adaptation Finance for a Resilient Africa
December 5, 2023The urgency to address the adaptation finance agenda heavily informed the PACJA advocacy agenda in 2023. The alliance embarked on an initiative that supported Need-based advocacy on adaptation among other initiatives across the continent to raise the profile of adaptation finance before coming to COP28 in Dubai, PACJA’s main advocacy agenda included: pushing for the finalization of the framework on the global goal of adaptation; operationalisation of loss and damage facility; more than doubling of adaptation finance; fast-tracking finalization of a new collective quantified finance goal and the global stocktake. This agenda is in line with the “Keep your Promise campaign” launched during the Africa Climate Summit in September this year, in Nairobi, Kenya calling for accountability in climate change response from duty-bearers. The campaign culminated with the African CSO position statement for COP28 released on December 29, a day before the start of COP28. On December 30, 2023, PACJA held the entry Press conference where it called for bold action from COP28. Find the press release here in English and French.
