Did you know that every child worldwide is impacted by at least one climate hazard? Children born from 2020 onward will face 2-7 times more extreme climate events than their grandparents. As the climate crisis deepens, it threatens children’s survival and all aspects of their childhood. The need for comprehensive guidance and action has never been more critical.
The Pan African Climate Justice Alliance has developed a Guide on Climate Justice and Children’s Rights, a comprehensive framework merging climate justice principle with child rights. This guide serves as a vital reference for States Parties, UN agencies, African Union organs, climate activists, educators, policymakers, the private sector, NGOs, CSOs, and child-led organizations.
Developed through a mixed-method approach, the guide incorporates primary data from stakeholders via key informant interviews and questionnaires, alongside secondary data from an in-depth literature review of available literature, policies, and laws.
