Today, May 12, 2025, the Kenya Platform for Climate Governance (KPCG) participated in the North Eastern Regional CSOs Workshop on Strengthening CSOs in Understanding FLLoCA and Social Accountability, held at the Lantern Hotel in Garissa County. The workshop marked KPCG’s first formal engagement in the North Eastern region, signaling an intentional expansion of its climate governance and accountability work to include Mandera, Wajir, and Garissa counties.
Organized to deepen civil society’s understanding of the Financing Locally Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) framework, the session facilitated critical reflection on the region’s climate finance landscape and the implications for local communities. Through the operationalization of the CSOs’ engagement framework, participants explored how their organizations could align more effectively with local adaptation priorities.
The dialogue revealed strong interest among CSOs in engaging more systematically in FLLoCA processes and in strengthening their advocacy for equitable access to climate finance. The workshop also introduced practical avenues for CSO participation in county-level planning, budgeting, and accountability mechanisms.
This convening provided a strategic entry point for KPCG into the region, positioning it as a partner in building inclusive, community-centered approaches to climate governance. By sparking conversation on inter-county collaboration, the session also laid the groundwork for enhanced cooperation across the three counties of Mandera, Wajir, and Garissa on climate resilience.
KPCG reaffirmed its commitment to supporting citizen engagement and transparent governance in the region, underscoring the importance of locally anchored solutions and sustained civil society participation in climate action planning.
